In their little minds, the first cold day of the year had to mean something different and new was lurking around the corner. Something exciting! So we had to do something to mark the day. The only way I know how to celebrate anything or mark any day as special is with food.
So in our house, the first cold-weather day of the year brought...

(using our Texas plates of course...to remind us that we're still part-Texan)
AND...

(they wanted to warm up their insides even though
they shed their sweaters the instant their feet hit the carpet)
Cold weather aside, today also brought a couple of other fun things along with it...
Meg got to hang over the toilet and watch Buddy dine on his after-school snack
(he's so good at tolerating her)
AND...
Meg got to roll around on the carpet, pick her nose, and eat a Frosted Mini Wheat, all while collecting dog hair on her adorable little long-sleeved polka-dot shirt.

(he's so good at tolerating her)
AND...

The day has been marked. The day has been celebrated - dog hair and all. Now I can't wait to see what exciting things are lurking around the corner for all of us!

hahaha. I bet the girls are going to be so happy playing in the snow. Nicky would love it. She remembers 2 Christmas ago at her grandma's house (Glenn's mom) in Utah. She had her first snow fight and she loved it. She always beggs me to take her back there because "Grandma has the best snow ever" I'm excited to hear all the new things that your fam are going to do that you couldn't do here. I love Texas but snow is great when you have a kid inside. (not when a grown up has to drive around:S)
Oh man, I always get so excited when it starts getting chilly- but last year we didn't have any snow til after Thanksgiving. So, I am a little frightened about the endurance I am going to have to muster up. But, for now, ...the heater on, the fireplace, hot chocolate, sweaters, ...it feels nice. Besides, it puts Eric in the best mood (cold weather/winter), ...so that alone is worth a LOT! Enjoy your first cold season back. :)
