Thanksgiving in St. George - Part II

We had a good few days to spend in St. George over the school break and we put them to good use. We didn't want to waste that amazing weather and the beautiful red-rock backdrop.

The morning after Thanksgiving, a bunch of kids went on a bike ride with Doug and Jared.

An afternoon swim was in order because swimming is always on the agenda when we're there. Granny and grandpa have an awesome pool in their development and it would be sinful to not take advantage of it...according to the kids, at least.

We went to the St. George Temple lighting ceremony. We got a bit restless waiting for the thing to start - it took a while.

But once it got dark enough, the lights finally came on and it was beautiful. I was holding Meg and she gasped. That was awesome. I love having a little one in my life to open my eyes to the wonders of this exciting world we live in.

After the lighting ceremony we grabbed dinner at this awesome Mexican restaurant that's new in town. We really liked all the props that helped us feel authentic ourselves.

The next day there was just enough time for Carrie and Meg to play doctor for a bit.

And then it was time to say goodbye and start the roadtrip home. Saying goodbye is never fun and it's always too big of a gap before we get to all be together again.

As for the roadtrip, despite all the library books there was still plenty of complaining about the long ride. But the part that baffled me and Jared was when we pulled into the driveway. This is where the girls stayed for about thirty minutes once we were home and they were able to roam freely:

That's right folks. They stayed put. Didn't even get out of the car. Stayed there to color and play on their iPods. Jared and I couldn't figure it out. Next time they start going stir crazy and need something to do, I guess I'll suggest going to the van.

Anyway, that wrapped up our Thanksgiving break and this is the point the holiday fever starts embedding itself in every aspect of life for the next month. Thanksgiving with family was a great way to kick it off and now I can't wait to see what the rest of this holiday season brings.
