This is a depressing day. I have so many problems with this I don't know where to start. How about the assumption that much of the costs will be offset by cutting doctors' pay by 20%. I have a better idea. How about we cut ALL government workers' pay by 20%, starting with Congress? Paying for this on the backs of doctors will backfire. The older docs will retire and the rest will refuse to work long hours to see the ever growing numbers of patients. Note to patients: get in line.
The reality is I don't expect the doctor paycut to actually happen. This is actually worse news, because then nobody is paying for it. The accounting tricks the CBO used to put lipstick on this pig would make Bernie Madoff blush. What will happen when interest rates go up on all that exploding government debt? Look at Greece. It will be a living Hell of slow growth, inflation and high taxes for at least a decade.
Congratulations Democrats for putting another nail in the coffin of freedom.

We almost called you at 9:15pm the other night when we watched it pass. So upsetting! There is a reason we have the best medical care in the world...and that freedom was just altered. On top of that, that stupid bill is chuck full of other crap. Now the government will dictate who goes to college as they made themselves the only institution for higher education funding. Thanks, democrats, Nancy P and all of the Americans who voted for "change." I'm thrilled for the direction in which our democratic nation is heading (Marxist/socialist).

yeah, we've been sick about it too. (well, mostly me, since Marc was at the hospital working long hours and dealing with hospital politics and hasn't had the luxury to think about it yet).
yeah, yeah, yeah, people don't want to hear docs complaining. "Let's stick it to them", they think. waa waa waa.
people don't realize that this will ultimately bite almost all of us (the tax-paying hard working public, that is) in the butt.
