The girls chose humongous pumpkins this year for the first time. Leah couldn't even stand up when she was carrying hers through the pumpkin patch and I could barely carry them myself. I got a big wagon to take them to the car and the three pumpkins totally maxed out the available space in that thing.
I don't usually like carving pumpkins, but I think it's because I just haven't liked to be in charge of all the guts. Now that the girls can do big-girl things, that's not my job anymore. It's so great to be able to turn them loose and see what they do!
Here they are with their gigantic pumpkins:
For the first time in the history of our family pumpkin carving nights, I actually helped with the carving this year...
and left the goopy seed fetching to others...
Their pumpkins turned out great. I especially love that each pumpkin is completely the individual creation of one of my girls and their carvings actually bring out each of their personalities.
Halloween hasn't traditionally been my favorite holiday, but I think it's growing on me. This year was one of my best.
