Freezing in the Stadium

So this past Saturday Jared wanted me to go to the BYU football game with him. I was hesitant because the guy who sits behind us makes it almost unbearable for me for multiple reasons and because it was cold. But I like it when Jared asks me out on dates so of course I said yes.

I bundled up like nobody's business and stuck some toe warmers onto the bottom of my feet and said, "let's do this." So we did. And we froze. It was insane. A bunch of sorry frozen fans on the edge of hypothermia. During halftime Jared and I went in search of some warm food. I ended up with a Costa Vida salad. The chicken was kind of warm but the rest of it was cold because salads are typically cold. So I asked Jared to go get me some hot chocolate while I tried to bend my stiffened fingers around the fork that pushed food in between my frozen lips. I could barely even move my jaw enough to chew - my face was nearly immobile because I couldn't feel it because it was, yes, you guessed it, frozen.

After a few minutes, Jared came back and said they were out of hot chocolate. That was the most miserable thing he's ever said to me. So I asked him to go to a different counter and see if they could scrounge some up for me. He came back with a cup and I couldn't wait to wrap my hands around it and feel the hot go down my chest. Unfortunately, the "hot chocolate" wasn't even lukewarm. I've never had such horrible hot chocolate ever.

We went back to the game and I stopped sharing the blanket with Jared so I could wrap the whole thing around myself a couple times. Jared rarely leaves games early, but he told me that if BYU scored again we could leave at the end of the third quarter. I counted my lucky stars at the end of the third quarter as I hustled my stiff butt out of there. On the car radio they said that inside the stadium it felt like 14 degrees with the wind chill and I believed them. I didn't think I was ever going to thaw out.

It was a crazy date, but that means it's one I'll never forget. I love my BYU fan and I'll go along with his crazy dates pretty much whenever he asks me to.
