Sleepovers

One of my favorite things Brita and Leah do together lately is have sleepovers in Brita's room. It reminds me of when Doug and I used to stay up late horsing around and goofing off. We didn't have sleepovers, but it sure was fun stuff. It was nice to have a built-in friend in my life. We fought a lot and I remember having hurt feelings over too many things, but especially as we started getting older we became better and better friends.

There's something to be said for working through years and years of hard stuff - tolerating things that drive you crazy, realizing that the other people under your roof are trying to figure out life just like you are, getting mad and staying mad for a long time and then finally forgiving and getting over it.

I'm seeing my girls learn these same things and I'm watching them love each other and find a friend and security in each other.

When I walked down to tell these two goodnight, I got that feeling in my heart where it swells and feels like it just can't hold everything I'm feeling. I loved them so much. I always love them, but tonight I think I love them a little bit more.
