Love our Missionary

Chandler left for his mission to Jackson, Mississippi today.

I am such a proud aunt and so happy for my sister. This is the kind of thing that makes a parent proud. And it's also the kind of thing that tears a parent up inside. Saying goodbye and letting our kids spread their wings is hard. But it's also SO worth it.

I'm so grateful to be part of a strong family that supports and takes care of each other.

Carrie had an open house for him on Sunday after his farewell and today before he entered the MTC he wanted to eat lunch at Taco Amigo where he has worked for the past few years.

After lunch we joined a bunch of the other missionaries who are checking into the MTC today on the grounds of the Provo Temple. I asked him if he was nervous and he said, "No. I'm excited. I'm ready to go." And I believed him.

When it was time to go, granny and I stationed ourselves on the sidewalk outside the MTC to try to get pictures and see Chandler say his goodbyes. He gave Carrie a sweet hug and said goodbye to Adam and Sarah too, then he assumed his position next to his escorts and followed them inside to start his mission.

The people of Mississippi don't even know that there's a great guy headed their way.
