Stay-cation Day 4

Yesterday, we spent the morning at Seven Peaks Water Park. Meg spent the majority of the time in the wave pool with me practicing her swimming. Everyone else loved the thrill of the big water slides and we all relaxed for a bit in the lazy river. Except after relaxing for a couple minutes, the big girls couldn't stand it any longer so they ditched their tubes and raced around the river.

I love having summer passes because I don't feel obligated to stay all day in order to get my money's worth. After 2 - 2 1/2 hours we're all done and ready to go. And just in time, because by then it's lunchtime and we can go home and eat a sensible lunch without splurging for overpriced, low-quality park food. The girls were thrilled this time because they didn't have to use their own money for renting tubes since we are on a stay-cation. AND we also indulged in a rare Slurpee treat at 7-11 afterward, which thrilled them to no end.

Even though we're "vacationing", the girls were still required to go to piano lessons (one of the benefits of stay-cationing!). After their lessons we went with granny and grandpa to the Sizzler for dinner. We like the varied menu there and the girls live for the ice cream bar...who am I kidding, so do I! The highlight of the dinner experience was digging through the garbage can in the kitchen with Leah. When she found this...

she held it up in the air and everyone in the kitchen cheered! She just got her retainer last week (after having three teeth extracted...she got a big shake for that one) and she was distraught when she found it missing at the restaurant. Apparently she had wrapped it up in a napkin and it ended up on her salad plate which our server cleared from the table. When we were digging through the garbage can she asked if she was going to have to get braces if she couldn't find her retainer. I told her she'd probably just have to help pay for a new one. Needless to say, she was relieved as ever when that thing popped out of a napkin that had been covered in salad dressing and potato skins.

Just two more days left of our stay-cation. One simple, but fun activity planned for today!
