I've learned a lot by being home this week. Meg loves Sesame Street, which I think is great. I watched Oscar the Grouch doing a "Trash News" program for other grouches. A grouch called him to say that she didn't like his news, and if he didn't make it trashier she was going to switch to Fox News.
Is it OK for Sesame Street to be political? I realize that my 2-year-old isn't going to get that, and even older kids aren't sophisticated enough to understand. But it still bugged me. This is PBS, supported by my tax dollars, taking a political position shared by the president. Does that bother anyone? Today they're ripping Fox News, tomorrow they may be teaching songs of praise to our Dear Leader.

It is interesting to see the mainstream media and other media outlets beginning to take a united stand against 1, just one, media outlet, FOX news. PBS burned their bridge with me with their documentary on Mormons (while Mitch Romney was in the presidential race). Even Jenny, who sends them some of her hard-earned dollars each year, sent in a letter of disappointment.
Go Dora!
Go Wordgirl!
Go Little Einsteins!
man, girl, didn't you know that PBS and NPR (National Public Radio, or the National People's Republic, as it's also known) are hard core lefties? You must not remember that Sesame Street considered putting an HIV positive character on to promote "tolerance and acceptance" for awhile until we "right wing Jesus freaks" shut down that idea? My stance on that is that they would be better serving the public if they put a child with autism or leukemia or any other more common childhood disease on there. the odds of my child (or any other child in America, for that matter) interacting with a child who has cancer or autism are FAR greater than that of an HIV positive child, (heaven bless many of these innocent kids who unnecessarily suffer due to their parents' choice of lifestyles). This is yet another example of my tax dollars being used by a minority of vociferous left-leaning people who want to force their "progressive" agenda down everybody else's throat, even our children.
OK I'm done and yes, I do feel better now!! hope you had a happy halloween...
I know. Bummer. I grew up on sesame street...I lived it. I tend to look the other way, ...but that is going a little too far. Can't we all just get along? Sheesh.
Wait. Who wrote this post? It says Chelle but I think it's Jared.
Wait. I'm commenting again so I can get the follow up answer to my question since I forgot to do that the first time. :)
Yeah Stacy. You're right. All the political stuff comes from Jared.
