Brita was given a part in the 2nd & 3rd grade play called "Bones." She was the neck bone and she delivered all of her lines really well. We were so proud of her and it was a big confidence boost for her. In the car on the way home she said, "Just right before the curtain opened I had a feeling in my heart I've never had before. I was nervous and excited all at the same time!"
Jared and I both missed the best part of the play, however, when some kid on the risers threw up everywhere. We did see the goods making a trail from the risers to backstage and it was highly entertaining to watch one of the teachers make several trips out to the stage to cover up the evidence with garbage can liners. We also got a good laugh at the girl who couldn't stop covering her mouth and nose.
Jared continues to wonder why they chose someone who was quiet and tone deaf to sing one of the solos.
The girls both participated in the primary program on Sunday. Brita was the narrator and she was awesome. She told me that even though she had the most lines, she had the easiest part because "All I had to do was read and I LOVE reading!"
Leah had a short line in the program and she repeated it over and over all week. I didn't even know that she had memorized it, but she kept practicing by standing behind a chair or other object to represent the podium. She did a great job delivering her little line. She still insists that we keep her part hung up on the refrigerator. She chose an all blue outfit for the occasion that consisted of a denim jumper, two different blue hair accessories, and blue sparkly sequin shoes.
Meg has developed an interest in exploring the contents of garbage cans. She frequently dumps out the plastic garbage can in the office and sorts through all the papers. The other day there was something interesting still stuck to the bottom of the garbage can and she kept stretching her little arm as far inside the can as it could go with no luck. Finally she crawled into the can (it was tipped on its side), but somehow her arms got pinned to her sides and the fit was too tight for her to move her hand above her head to grab the little treasure. So she crawled back out, clenched her fists and screamed like mad until her face was so red I thought her head was going to pop off. She's expressing herself in this manner way too frequently lately. The doting parents that we are, Jared and I think it's adorable. We're lamenting the day we have to start disciplining that kind of behavior.

What? No pictures of the neck bone outfit, the blue coordinated ensemble, and the screaming baby??
Your kids are so cute!
I agree, I wish I could have seen Leah's outfit...
Ahh, primary programs. We just finished with ours as well. I practised and practised with Sam. Since his birthday is New Year's Day, he is not a sunbeam although he's 4... so he had a speaking part, even though his is really young and probably a head smaller than his classmates. So I was really nervous for him but it all turned out ok.
Oops, New Years Eve (I guess that would make more sense)...
