This Week's Happenings

I took the family to the airport Saturday for their 3-week vacation in Utah. Rachelle earned the break, as she worked hard all week cleaning the house and making treats for the baby shower she was hosting for Haley Cochran. They had a great time, with people staying around and visiting until 11 PM. I took the girls to Heidenreich’s house for the evening and we watched movies and played with RC cars.

The Temple 1st ward basketball team took 2nd place out of 6 teams in the Stake tournament. There was only 1 small fight in the games we played in, so I guess church ball didn’t quite live up to its reputation. Even though we lost the final game in overtime, I felt pretty good about scoring almost half my teams points. My skills are diminishing, and I haven’t even tried a dunk for a couple of years, but I still have a pretty good turnaround jumper.

We went to Austin Friday night to go to dinner with my sister Allison, who was in town for some teaching conference. It’s always fun to have people come to our part of the country and visit.

While Rachelle is gone I have rented an HBO miniseries that I didn’t think would interest her: John Adams. I just got to his inauguration as president. It’s a little slow moving sometimes, but his friendship/rivalry with Jefferson is fascinating. I’m trying to figure out if I’d be a Federalist or a Republican back then. Maybe I’ll have to read the book. Does anybody have any other suggestions of movies that I’d like that might not interest Rachelle?

I can only speak for myself here but when we did the same thing I got World Trade Center and Faith of My Fathers (The John McCain POW one) for Nathan. They both looked awful to me but he said they were alright. That's high praise for Nathan.
