Sabbath Day Sledding

As if sledding down our little backyard hill wasn't good enough or something, Doug and his family talked us into finding a bigger and better hill when they were in town. It may have been the Sabbath, but we had already been to church and we figured that sledding is family bonding at its finest.

Of course I was nervous again. It's weird how I feel anxiety when my kids jump on a smooth, slick-surfaced object onto slippery, icy snow and race down a steep hill. Anyway, I went with it again and by the looks on their faces, I must have been the only scared cat in the bunch.

Doug and Jared sat on the sidelines, until...

Isabel encouraged the girls to throw a snowball at Jared. Then the games were on. Jared doesn't let an act like that go unturned.

Leah's glasses are falling off here after Jared smeared a snowball right in her face.

I think they were all pretty exhausted after that wrestling match in the snow, but it was snow-covered glasses and smiles all around.

We could have had some fun sledding with just our little family, but I tell ya, cousins (actually cousin Anna) made that day a whole lot better. I can't think of a better way to spend the Sabbath.
