I couldn't resist snapping this photo from our family room window.
What's not to love about this scene...sisters sprawled out on a tiny loveseat together reading. I love it when my kids read. Especially when the alternatives might be to watch TV or play computer games or fight. I remember spending entire summer days reading as a kid.
I remember one particular summer day hanging out next door at my grandma's house. I don't know where she and my grandpa were, but I was the only one home all day and I sat down on the floor in her family room with my back up against one of her many chairs and read book after book after book. Not sure why I chose the floor when plenty of sofas and chairs were available for the only person at home, but I remember sitting with my knees up to my chest devouring all the books I could find. I remember reading "Mishmash" of all things. It was a great day. And today I get to watch a "great day" unfold for my girls. I hope their reading days leave as much of an impression on them as mine did on me.
