New church job

Alas, my days of hiding out, teaching one Sunday a month didn't last. I am now the assistant Blazer leader. Combined with the other ward we have 7 or 8 Blazers. Last night we worked on knots. I somehow got my Eagle without being able to tie even a square knot consistently, so I don't know how qualified I was to teach this activity. But by the end of the night even I could consistently tie a square knot, sheet bend, bowline and taught line. I wish I could say I'm looking forward to our winter camp next month.

I took Leah skiing again on the bunny hill. She was getting good enough that we were skiing up as high as we could on the edges and practicing steep turns. She's ready for the chairlift next time. I'm fantasizing about the day when I'll have skiing buddies that can ski black diamonds with me.

Now that I'm used to having a DVR I don't know how I would function without one. I watch every Jazz game now after the kids go to bed. There's no screaming kids (or screaming wife) and I can watch the whole thing in under an hour by forwarding through free throws and breaks. For a sports fan, it's the greatest invention since TV.

Even though it says "posted by Chelle" at the bottom, I'm going to guess that this post was actually made by Jared. Unless you guys know something I don't know and Rachelle actually did earn an Eagle Scout.
Congrats on the new calling.

Woo hoo! Blazer leader! Good thing you had a camping bridal shower all those years ago. You must feel very prepared.

And ditto on the DVR. It changed my life.

Jared, you're not kidding about DVR and sporting events. I've enjoyed skipping all the fluff on our Tivo for a while now. Priceless.
