Black Party

Rachelle turns 40 this week. I'm not the best when it comes to planning parties or being thoughtful or sensitive, so I was greatly relieved when Hailey Cochran bailed me out by throwing a little surprise B-day party. She had me blindfold Rachelle, then took her in the bathroom and dressed her in 80s clothes and gave her big hair and lots of makeup. She drove us over to her house and walked her inside before removing the blindfold. It was a fun surprise, and we enjoyed good food, 80s trivia and played American Idol on the wii.

We were treated to a spectacular dance performance last Monday as our FHE activity. Leah has been choreographing and practicing a dance routine with the Little Mermaid music. She actually has some talent at dancing. I especially liked the moves where she jumped off the crib.

Megan has developed a love for the scriptures. She can't be prevented from grabbing them and flipping through the pages. She can't be prevented from doing anything she wants these days.

I have to give some props to Obama, as he did something I agree with this week. It was nice to see him deny a bailout to GM. I'm not sure I agree that he has any power to fire the CEO though. I'm afraid that's just political cover so that he can come back and give them a bailout in 60 days. But for now, it's nice that there appears to be a limit on bailouts.

Okay, I thought that said "Block Party" and then couldn't figure out what the picture of Leah had to do with a block party.

Happy Birthday, Rachelle!

I think Obama has his hands a bit tied this year (cleaning up the mess he's inherited), but I get the impression he isn't keen on much of the stupid spending in the bailout package, the add-ons by politicians and such. If I'm understanding it correctly, he sort of "had to" to approve it and do it or the government would've folded completely. But he looked ticked. I think that extra spending won't be as much of an issue next time if he has anything to say about it. I'm so sick of bailouts.
