Aspen Grove Wrap Up

The highlight of Meg's time at Aspen Grove was making new friends. She is a super social kid and she loved her group.

One night we carved out some time to do go to the Arts & Crafts building and paint some ice cream bowls. Even though I was completely exhausted, I obliged because it was something the girls had wanted to do since the beginning of the week. They turned out super cute and I love that every time we use them we have a reminder of our week at Aspen Grove.

One day while Leah and Meg were with their age groups, Jared, Brita and I signed up to make our own pottery on the pottery wheels. It's a lot harder than it looks, but we liked it so much that we took Leah back the next day. The setting was awesome - we made our pottery on a bridge over a little river. Had it not been so cold, we might have enjoyed it a little more, but it was still an awesome place to learn how to use a pottery wheel.

One of my favorite activities was the high ropes course. It was stinking hard to get up that log and it took me forever, but I was determined to do it even if a huge line of people had to wait behind me.

Here we are watching Leah:

They had family frolics or something like that on a big field where we played a lot of relay type games. It was fun when Leah got to climb on Jared's back for one of them.

They also had a big building with ping pong, foosball, and pool. Outdoors there was basketball, swimming, miniature golf, badminton and shuffleboard. Jared and the girls went over there a lot and I went with them whenever I could and wasn't completely worn out. I didn't realize my camera was on the black and white setting when I took these.

One day Jared and I signed up to play paintball and we learned some archery. We were both pretty good at it but of course Jared got way more bulls eyes than I did. Jared also wanted to sign me up for every tournament possible. I finally put my foot down and told him I would just to shuffleboard. My opponent forefeited so that didn't really turn out the way Jared had hoped.

We also listened to some good speakers, had an excellent Sunday School lesson and Brita went to a youth fireside. I liked the balance

Leah's class always met by these bears and the girls thought they were fun to jump on.

I think I have already mentioned a few times that the setting is beautiful.

While we had a great week I think it will be a while before I want to do this again. It was a week so packed with activities that I felt like I hardly had time to breathe. I like a little relaxation mixed in with my fun. I think I'd like the condensed version they offer where it's just three or four days. But I'm so grateful we could go and it was a great vacation for our family.
