Shower demolition

As if having one major home-improvement project wasn't enough (finishing basement rooms), we were forced to start another a few weeks ago when we discovered that the master shower is leaking yet again. We tried re-sealing it twice, and now it's time to tear it all up and start over. But we can't just do the shower floor without changing the shower so it's more to our liking. And then the old bathtub just wouldn't look right. And we have to get a sink to match the tub. That means we have to replace the whole counter. And so on.

So to save a few hundred bucks I figured I'd do the demolition myself. Getting the tile up with a hammer and crowbar was slow going.

So luckily my brother Eric the contractor has every tool known to man and suggested I use a hammer drill. That saved me hours of hard labor. Not that it was easy, just faster.
Then we tried to make the girls clean up. The tile was so heavy that I ended up doing most of it myself.

Then I had to tear out the wire mesh underneath the tile, and in the process I tore a gash in my hand. Why didn't I wear gloves for that?

Now we're waiting for contractors to get started putting the thing back together. Rachelle decided we needed to move our clothes out of the closet, so now I have underwear in the bathroom closet, pants in the entryway closet, shoes still in the master closet and coats in Meg's closet. Getting dressed involves running around half naked to several different areas of the house. All my projects have progressed to the point that I'm waiting on contractors, so that's why I have time to blog.
