If they do the right thing I only hope the nation is ready for more hard times, because things will probably get worse before they get better. If they take the easy route then this country has about as bright a long-term future as Greece.
On the local ballot I thought I'd research the candidates and give Democrats a fair hearing. While I agree with them that we need reasonable and compassionate immigration policies, everything else they stand for is exactly opposite of freedom. I can't vote for any of them. It seems lame to vote straight Republican, so I'll vote for some local Libertarians where I can, just so the Republican machine here in Utah gets a message that they aren't automatically entitled to power. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it and this state is run relatively well.
I can't resist ranting about the proposition for a local bond to pay for a new rec center in Provo. Since when was it a government responsibility to pay for everyone's recreation? Government run rec centers start out nice but they don't charge enough to cover upkeep and expenses and inevitably end up being run-down dumps. The city has enough to do maintaining our parks without additional expense that could be better handled by the private sector. Now get out and vote.

Jared, when are you running for office? I like everything you had to say. I've usually voted straight party line, but I to mixed it up and voted for a few Libertarians when there was an obvious RINO for that particular office.
And I vote lean, hard times.
Amber - I have asked him the same thing. I would love to see Jared in office. His common-sense politics and unintimidated "let's fix it" attitude would not only be refreshing, but could actually get some things moving in a positive direction.
"Change We Can Live With: Jared's Way or the Highway." Can I be Jared's campaign manager? It's obvious I could get him elected.
I've been watching the school board election in Alpine with a magnifying glass. Some MAJOR red flags ran. Scary times.
