Book Report Insight
Oh, the insight one can get from snooping around inside a school bag. Here are a few of Brita's recent book report responses when asked to compare an event in the book to something in her own life:
"The worthy knight made peace between war like parents stop fights between siblings."
"Camille feels like her life is unfair. I do too! doesn't everyone?"
"Lorelei has to deal with a difficult family and so do I."
I begin to sense the development of a common theme (our family is crappy, living under our roof is pure torture...something along those lines), then I flip the page to the next report and read:
"Jennifer dislikes kissing toads like me."
Huh?

Yet four more reasons why Brita is a kindred spirit....! I can't wait to hear about the conversations she'll have with her parents one day when SHE is a mother. I can only imagine her concerned parents listening to her vent about the woes of raising children, only to hear them snicker when she hangs up the phone.
Dealing with a difficult family...as if! But speaking purely from an oldest child standpoint, I sort of get her drift. She had more complete sentences in that backpack than Cole has ever put into a report in all 4 grades combined!
