Leah and I celebrated our birthdays this week. Leah got a Littlest Pet Shop video game for the Wii. The funny thing is although it was Leah's gift, Brita makes sure she gets to play first and longest. I was thrilled to get a new air conditioning unit as my gift. I was going to get a new computer, but after spending money on a plumber, air conditioning and an electrician still to come, we'll just have to make do with the 6 year old PC for a while. It reminds me of that Christmas in medical school when all we got was new fuel injectors for the car. I actually got some other nice gifts: new socks, package of pens and a couple of brochures from Central Utah Gardens.
Speaking of computers, I checked into switching to Macintosh. When I told the salesman that I needed it to run Office to be compatible with work software he said "No problem, you can run it from Windows inside your Mac". When I asked about QuickBooks, he said "It runs better from Windows, but you can run it inside your Mac". If the best sales pitch they can come up with is "It can run Windows", then why don't I just buy a PC for half the money? Another problem is Apple won't make an inexpensive netbook mostly for internet use. They insist on selling me a complete notebook computer that can do everything the desktop does. I thought I wanted to try the Mac, but with limited funds it doesn't seem worth it. Am I missing something here?
We had a fun visit from Mark and Stacey Foley, some friends from medical school who are visiting from Pennsylvania. The kids really hit it off. They stayed the night and we had Indian takeout and played games half the night. One nice thing about living in Utah is that so many people come here in the summer. We hope we can see old friends whenever they're in town.

You are definitely missing something here. Coming from a NON computer savvy girl, ...all I know is that in the last several years that we switched to apple,...I haven't seen ERic have to deal with a computer virus/glitch/annoying problem since. THAT is worth all the extra money in my book. And c'mon...you have a real job now! I don't think you will regret it. You could direct any more detailed questions to Eric who would definitely know how to talk your talk. Good luck deciding.
I'm so glad you thought the brochures were a nice gift. I'll have to remember that again for next year, or at least something similar....since you liked it and all.
You guys are great. We feel like slugs since later that day after we all left we remembered it was your and Leah's birthday's and had forgotten to say anything! So let it be said here that we wish you a very happy birthday! :)
Thanks again for letting us crash there. We had a great time. Sorry we didn't wish you a happy birthday that day. I guess you were just acting so nonchalant and Jaredesque that it slipped our minds. Happy Birthday now, in case I forget next year.
