The week started out with the Martin Luther King holiday, so we turned it into a friends day. Friends came to our house in the morning, then after lunch we met friends at the park where they played for THREE glorious hours. We had temps in the 70's with a slight breeze--it was so perfect! Even Meg was happy there for three hours. She stayed close to me for a while, then walked with the merry-go-round as the breeze gently moved it, and finally ventured off on her own to eat some rocks. It was a heavenly day.
Tuesday morning didn't get off to the most perfect start. I usually work out in the mornings at 5am and Jared is the awesome dad who gets the girls up and makes sure they are eating breakfast by the time I walk in the door. I usually have time to fix their hair and send them on their way. Unfortunately on Tuesday, he slept through his alarm and his back-up alarm (Meg) didn't go off either. Brita and Leah were playing a game in their room and were bummed when I explained that they had ten minutes before they had to be out the door. They kicked into gear though, with great attitudes and they weren't even tardy. Once in a while miracles do occur.
I had a fun day with a friend in Austin this week. We both got new running shoes and I found a baptism dress for Brita. I freaked out last week when I had Brita try on the baptism dress that had been "handed down" to her and fit a couple months ago. The waist was nearly up to her armpits and the length was barely to her knees. Nothing like pushing things until the last minute. I was grateful to have found a beautiful dress that she's crazy about.
Jared went to a gun show with a friend of his this week. He found the gun he wants to buy someday. With it being his first gun show and all, he didn't realize that camoflauge was the appropriate gun show attire. Oh well, maybe next time.
Brita and Leah had a sleep-out in the family room on Friday night after watching Indiana Jones with Jared. They were so excited and thought it was the most thrilling thing. Simple pleasures!
Brita had her birthday party last night at Michael's with a bunch of her school and church friends. They painted a couple crafts and sang to her over the store's loud speaker. Fun times!
