The last part of last week was back to the grind for us. The girls started school again last Wednesday, and after such a long break we had all settled nicely into a kicked-back, relaxed way of life. I usually dread long school breaks, and it did have its rough spots, but by the end I wasn't ready for them to go back. We're finally getting back into homework mode and strict bedtime mode, but unfortunately, early-morning routine mode doesn't look promising...ever.
Leah had a fun homework assignment to do an experiment of her choice. So when dad came home, they put their heads together and decided to see if regular water or salt water froze faster. She recorded her observations every four minutes, and in the end learned that her hypothesis was correct! It looked like so much fun, that Brita decided to jump on board and do the experiment too. That kind of homework is so much more interesting than a worksheet, and it helped with family bonding too!
I signed up to help with our annual Relief Society "Meals on Wheels" service last week. My friend and I loaded three of our kids in the car and spent the morning in Belton making deliveries and praying for charity as we dumped hand sanitizer onto our hands and arms in great volume. Even though it had its challenges, it was a great way to spend my time that morning.
Jared has been working with an attorney and accountant to get his corporation set up. We can't believe we are already at this point and we're excited about the chaos that will likely develop over the next six months. We're looking forward to our move and we're excited about Jared's job opportunities. At the same time, we're already feeling some sadness over leaving some great friends here, so we're trying to enjoy our time here as much as we can. We have lived here almost six years and in that period of time our lives have changed...we raised our girls here, added little Meg to our family, Jared experienced a lot of growth in his career, we've had some amazing opportunities to serve, and we've grown close as a family in Texas of all places. I'm grateful to know there is a master plan that is slowly unveiled for us. I don't need to see the plan to know that we're guided and dropped places we'd never necessarily choose for ourselves. And it's all for a purpose. We're grateful that Texas was a stopping point for us and we can't wait to get dropped in Utah soon.

So, which is it?! Does the salt water freeze faster or the regular water?
God Bless Texas! :) We have 3 Texan boys out of 4. We will always remember that good place. Sigh.
Before we moved to TX I thought "these people really have an attitude of superiority" and now I understand why. Texas is bad to the bone awesome. Will you be doing the Mark Mahler thing to sell your home or do the FSBO like we did? happy trails...
We're sure glad you were dropped in Texas, and that we were too! You guys are amazing.
