The Same Stuff

Sometimes I get tired of the same old stuff--same routine, same jobs to get done, same laundry piling up, same messes repeating themselves, same reminders coming out of my mouth, same clothes, same vein protruding from my forehead, etc. etc. etc. Maybe it has something to do with my outlook on life. Maybe I can find a way to get excited about the sameness of my life. Maybe one of my girls could help teach me that lesson.

Today I was viewing some of our holiday photos on the computer and Leah couldn't wait to scroll through them with me. She asked me to pause for a minute so she could study this photo:

I love this photo of me and my girls. I love the few "all the girls" photos we have and this one will remind me of our fun Christmas this year. I enjoyed looking at it with Leah and learning what interested her about the photo. After Leah looked at it for a couple minutes and made several observational comments, she gasped, threw her arms up in the air and exclaimed, "Ah! Today I'm wearing all the same stuff!" (allow me to add that her hair looks every bit as nice today as it did in the photo). She was tickled. Oh, the beauty of being able to wear shorts & t-shirts in December and of being able to appreciate all the same stuff.

Very cute picture and very sweet lesson. "Exciting" is highly overrated. We've decided we LOVE boring and mundane. :)
