California Adventures

This is an old post from our trip to California at the end of 2013. Rachelle started it and didn't finish it. So I will add something and publish it.

Rachelle:
Sunday afternoon, our first full day in California we were talking about whether or not we should go anywhere. Meg chimed in and told Doug that "Anna said we could maybe go to the park and I said maybe we could go to Disneyland."

More Meg-isms from the trip:

"Kiki's like almost my best friend."

In the morning, before I had even gotten out of bed, Meg came into my room and asked, "Mom, have you seen Kiki anywhere?" I told her to check downstairs and she said, "I already checked down there, but I'll go look again." She wants Kiki to go everywhere she goes.

The girls couldn't wait to jump in the pool and hot tub right after we got here on Saturday night, then Sunday morning they were in their swimsuits first thing doing it all again. They found much joy in jumping into the freezing cold pool then warming up in the hot tub.

Jared:
My favorite part of the trip was morning bike rides with Doug. Nobody gets moving around that house during holidays until about 11 AM, plenty of time for a bike ride. Doug took me on some great rides in the hills around Mission Viejo. He rides all the time so it was tough to keep up but eventually my pride would kick in and I would somehow catch him.

Other activities that I remember from that trip include a weiner roast at the beach, a long hike to the Top of the World overlooking Laguna Beach, family flag football, a visit to Mission San Juan de Capistrano and a bad Will Ferrell movie becaues Doug loves Will Ferrell.

Weiner Roast at the beach
Lots of time at the pool. Isbael spoiled the girls by bringing their food to them while they soaked in the hot tub.

Ruined cathedral, destroyed by an earthquake in early 1800s.
