Duck Again

Jared has really become a fan of hunting ducks. It started when we lived in Texas and his buddy Tim New would invite him to his 100 acre plot of land to hunt. I thought Jared's interest in it would die out when we moved here, but he hasn't given it up. He's not a die hard like his buddy Jon Hill, but he still likes to go out every year and try to get a bird or two.

Today he came home with his duck. I'm not a fan of this kind of thing at all. Skinning an animal to get to the meat doesn't appeal to me at all. But Jared insists that if he's going to kill it, he's going to eat it.

Jared knows it's not my thing, but he has this way with the kids. He seems to be able to convince them to take his side when he plays the fun-dad card. He makes a few jokes, softens them up, makes it seem like the cool thing to do...and then BAM! The girls are under his spell and singing his praises.

They gave his duck stir-fry a big thumbs up. I say it was just so-so, but that's probably because I can't get the images of the poor little creature out of my head while I'm eating it.
