Our 2009
This past year has brought us many good things that filled up our lives with pure treasure;
Two thousand and nine is a year that we've loved and we reflect upon with pleasure.
The months gave us laughter and fun, happy times throughout all four of the seasons;
It was an awesome year for our family of five for a number of fanciful reasons...
The year got off to a precious start when an eight year old dressed in all white
Entered the waters of baptism and committed to follow Christ's light.
We set out on a tour to explore the great state that's been home for the past several years
A proper farewell to the Texas we love before setting off and switching gears.
My friend and I trained in the wee morning hours because the big 4-0 was looming
My gift to myself was a half-marathon to bring in my new decade-a-booming!
Jared and I some days went the rounds, but ultimately we both agreed
On a house in Provo that we now love - a miracle of sorts, indeed.
Jared's been learning the ropes on a job that is new to him at Utah Valley
Now it's a business that involves other things than just specimens of Pathology.
New city, new state, new house, new life...we decided to add one more thing
A four-legged, shaggy, bearded one was the object of our sweet girls' dreams.
Dreams don't just come true for the girls alone, you see Jared has had a dream too
This year season tickets to football games blessed his loyal Y heart that bleeds blue.
In Utah we're home and we love to explore the beauty of mountains nearby
Our hikes lead to trails where we can enjoy nature's peaks as they touch evening's sky.
Since September her snow boots have been on her feet, yearning for white winter chill
Flakes finally fell from gray, hazy skies and a sled raced her boots down the hills.

This little one's spark brings all of us joy; she discovers new things everyday
Life in the midst of an almost-two sweetie blesses us beyond words we can say.
With a shaky, rough start we are feeling more settled 'cause faces light up and are bright
Lest we mislead our readers and paint our year in colors of bright rosy red
Be assured that our year has stunk as well with moments of sadness and dread.
The poop in the basement from our furry friend is not what I'd call a highlight
I can only hope on some future day that new carpet makes this wrong right.
"Why can't life be unfair in my favor?" is a question that is really quite clever
The answer's not pleasant and the notion may well continue to bother and plague her.
Jared's Father's Day was not quite what he wished with guns and big manly gifts
Rather his prominent gift was fatherhood with poopy diapers at the top of his list.
To mark the new decade my birthday did bring, I decided to try some new things
A mammogram and colonoscopy weren't all that fun, from this body youth no longer springs.
We got this new house that we really love and we've all tried to make it a home
The crayon on the walls, floors and cupboards alike tells us Meg thinks it hers all alone.
"A Stump a Day" was his motto one week and some damage my macho man did
To the aspens that were plaguing our land - a sweaty goodbye to each one he bid.
After all the research and time that we spent deciding exactly which breed we should go with
We learned hands-on that "Labradoodles don't shed" is nothing short of a (lie) myth.
The bitter cold cuts through our wimpy, warm blood as next to the fire I stay
While Jared's taut muscles flex and shovel the drive, occasionally three times a day.
The number one reason this year really stinks is painful still up to this date
We bid sad farewell to y'all who live yonder in the awesome-est great Lonestar state.
And so there it is, the good with the bad...it's our life this past year, our re-cap
However it comes we live it, we love it; can't wait to explore next year's map.
Now it's a business that involves other things than just specimens of Pathology.

Very fun recap of your year! Thank you for sending the email to look at it. Merry Christmas! There is no card coming from us either, but don't give up on us yet.
Bryn's baptism was last weekend and baby E is coming in about 3.5 weeks. We signed in Ft. Collins, so the transition back to Northern weather will be my story next year, too. LOVE, the Hunt fam
To my best bud from med school years, I say thank you for this letter.
I wish for you and yours that next year be even better!
(Heheheh, I'm so clever!)
No wonder you didn't have time to take family pictures and send out cards---writing poetry takes TWICE as long! :)
So glad to have you here. Let's get together during the break. Miss you-
XOXOJody
Rachelle-
This is darling! I love all the clever rhyming! I could never do that! haha
Anthony has been wanting to call Jared these past few weeks. I think we have your email, but a phone number would be great. I think Anth wants to talk pathology/job opportunities.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
You didn it again. I love this post. You are right. Can you believe all that happen just IN ONW YEAR! Yout girls are so pretty. Meg has grown so much since last time I see her. Have a wonderful Christmas and a better New Year!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your recap! You are very clever. You shouldn't sell your recap rhyme short. It would be great to catch up some time! I would love to visit you the next time we are in Utah!! Merry Christmas!
Your family looks happy and adorable and your home looks beautiful!
What an amazing year! My goodness, Rachelle. It seems like much more highs, than lows :) I am so impressed with the ryhming poem, how do you do it? I think 2010 will be the best year of all for your family!
Love the rhymes and the fact that you put in all the crappy stuff, too. There's too darned much cheer around the holidays! Just kidding. I know, you're keeping it real; the rest of us are putting on a show. Hope your holidays are grand. Love you guys!
Geez. That would have taken me at least until MLK day to come up with a poem like that--you really are a gifted wrighter/rhymer, Rachelle! loved it. love you guys.
A Dog! A half marathon! Wow Rachelle old age is good for you! Your new house looks so neat and your family darling as ever!Love ya!
Chelle Bell, I love the letter. You are incredibly talented and witty! Your family is beautiful and appears to be very happy. I look forward to seeing you in a week or so! Tim
I loved your poem. I cannot believe we haven't gotten our families together yet, now that we are both in "happy valley." Nathan just admitted to me that he see's Jared all the time in the hospital. Springville's not that far away and it sounds like the marker on my walls might make you feel at home here too. Please, let's find time to spend together!
