Another Chapter in our Family Story

As routine as life appears sometimes, I am reminded that each day a few lines are written in the so-called book that tells our family story. Our photos stand as evidence to me that our lives are slowly creating a story from beginning to end.

Some recent additions to our family story...

Lots of playtime with Buddy

Another lost tooth - the best part is the traditional note that gets left for the tooth fairy

Going for more hikes and discovering a mine that a letterbox clue led us to. Unfortunately, we left the flashlight in the car, and Jared tried to explore the mine anyway resulting in a fall due to a drop-off about twenty feet in. Luckily Meg wasn't strapped in at the time!

Learning the value of work - this is how Meg helps me vacuum.

Saturday morning cartoons. Jared and I love the fact that the girls are as fond of Tom and Jerry as we were "back in the day."

Getting spoiled (and sometimes tortured) by Uncle Doug - we were lucky enough to have him visit for a few days from Belgium. Everyone likes it when Doug is around!

Visiting Jared in his new office.

Getting ready for Halloween

Soaking up some vitamin D while reading a favorite novel (she read that book in one day!).

Planting tulips with mom and dad.

Found some strawberries on sale for 50 cents a pint and promptly turned them into my favorite freezer jam!

The girls have been getting spoiled with mom and dad's visit. They regularly go downstairs for treats before dinner, second breakfast, second dinner, snacks in between meals, before-bedtime meals...

Meg is learning to share, but of course I had to sit on the snack stool, inside the pantry, before I could get anything.

We were fortunate enough to be taught the story of Daniel in the Lion's Den for Family Home Evening...again. I will give everyone who reads this blog a dollar (well, maybe I will) the day Leah chooses a different lesson. She has been sharing this same lesson with us since she was four. AND, as an additional bonus, she continues to WOW us with her unique fashion sense.

It appears that we have been up to a lot - our "family book" is expanding by the hour. No wonder we're all so tired around here.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to that dollar. I'll do the same for you when Spencer teaches us about something besides Abinadi. They all have their favorites, huh?

Thaks Rachelle for your words. You are very kind.
I can't believe Britta read that book!! Not even when I was in Law Shool I read something like that IN A DAY!! Glenn and I were so surpirse. You must be very proud.
Tell Jared thank you too for his support and also tell him Glenn was crying over the BYU lost. (He couldn't see it because he was on call:S)

I love that photo of Brita reading. it's so perfect. I, too, am incredulous that she can whip through a book like that in one day. amazing! she's a talented reader indeed, and that will serve her well all the days of her life.

loved the other photos too, of Leah and the Lion's Den especially. she and Ellison would be best friends, i swear.

BTW, Kate and Brita took to each other so easily and flawlessly. I think it's partly because they have some things in common. Like reading books--big, huge books. They talked books a lot when we slept over. SO cute. We should do the pen pal thing. And Leah and Maxim can be pen pals, too.
