In six years a lot can happen.
Your kids can grow up to be seven and eight years old.
Your husband can learn how to garden in Texas.
You can learn how to cook and use the goods from the garden.
Your kids can learn the art of teasing and pushing each other's buttons.
You can start running for the first time in your life.
Your husband can get a lot of training - enough to be qualified for a job.
You can learn how to get by without a Target down the street for four years.
You can watch your children's personalities evolve.
Your husband can develop a love of hunting and eating his prey.
You can find the best doctors, schools, teachers, stores, plumbers, electricians and handymans in town.
Your kids can learn that life is hard and that life is not fair...and that's okay.
You can endure the pain of loss after loss, only to be rewarded with incredible joy when a new little spirit seamlessly joins your family.
You can embrace opportunities to serve and love those who surround you.
You can accept the service of love and others when life weighs heavy on you.
Your delicate, dainty seven year old can learn to make farting noises with her hand and the back of her knee.
Your eight year old can learn how to read faster than you can.
You can discover cool local places to eat like Schoepfs Barbecue, Taco Jalisco, Nami, and a yummy Thai place in Harker Heights.
You can experience the satisfaction that comes from living within your means when the budget is tight.
You can realize that some things that seem like sacrifices actually turn out to be blessings.
You can find yourself settling into a place far from home, yet it becomes a second home that's as dear to you as the first.
You can make friends that feel as close as family and who wind their way around your heart so tight that it physically hurts to break away.
Today there's a hole in my heart that's in the shape of Texas.

Texas misses you, too.
I feel confident that Texas (and its good folk) are also feeling the loss. Good luck with your new life. I hope we can see you guys again now that you'll be back in UT. We actually go there. Travel safely!
What a great phase of your life! Sounds like you are rich in amazing memories.
this texan sure misses y'all!
Your ability to express yourself is awesome! I really wish you would write a book. I actually felt physical pain while reading your post. You'll make life worthwhile no matter where you live!

I agree with Jody. You should write a book. And even though I didn't see you much the last year, it feels weird knowing you're not here. We'll miss you guys! You and your fun laugh and Jared playing ball with the boys at the church.
HOnestly I'm amazed by your poetry. You have fantastic writing talent. And wit! I'm looking at your map on the right sidebar and marvelling at how awesome it is that in the past five minutes two people in Europe and one in Japan(?) have read your blog, along with countless others in the U.S. Fascinating, no?
We still feel a strong connection to our Texas people--always will.
I am almost in tears as I read your post. You expressed in words what I have been feeling for a year. Congratulations and Good luck with the transition.
