Day in the Life: Leah

Friday, November 22

7:30 Mom woke me up. She shakes me awake. I'm always tired in the morning and want to stay in bed. I put on my Ivy Hall school uniform. I hate the uniforms, they are all ugly. The one for Friday is a school T-shirt and plain pants with a belt. I hate belts. The Wednesday uniform is the worst because I have to wear a dress and I hate jumpers. Today I had nothing for breakfast. I couldn't find anything I wanted to eat. I brushed my teeth and hair, put shoes on and got my backpack ready. I got a gift for Mrs. Robbins because today was her last day. It was a bar of sweet smelling soap.

8:30 Mom drove us to school. I put my stuff in my locker. It's clean. All the other kids have messy lockers. We have locker checks once/week and mine is always clean.

First is math and we talked about finding the area of weird shapes. I didn't like it because I hate math but at first I didn't understand it but then I did.

In Spanish I had a test. I think I did good but I didn't get it back yet. The test was writing questions in Spanish and answering them. Like "Cual es tu clase favorita?" and the answer is "Mi clase favorita es arte".

Mrs. Robbins, the English teacher, loved her gift. She is moving to one of the Carolinas, I'm not sure which. We went to the computer room and typed a 1 page story about Thanksgiving. Mine was about Tom the Turkey. Tom was supposed to guard the food to make sure that no turkeys from across the street would take it. But Tom would leave a lot and they would come eat it. I didn't finish because I'm a slow typist. And I'm not good at doing stories either.

For electives a few weeks ago, we got in groups and made videos about teaching people to be proactive. Our video was us telling made up stories about how we were proactive. Mine was about how we checked to make sure a swimming hole was safe before we jumped in. I said "We could have been seriously injured, or killed" and then I winked. Our video tied for first place so we get to go out to lunch with Mrs. Simpson.

In social studies first we took a test on challenges in Ghana. We corrected a test on facts about Mali and I missed 39 of 49. After that is lunch. It was fast food Friday, so I got Hawaiian pizza. I don't like to talk during lunch, I just like to eat. Then we have recess and I brought my gloves because it was cold. Nehal and I threw the football.

For electives I had to work on corrections for my Mali test. The people that didn't have corrections got to go play games in the computer lab. It was so unfair.

PE is last and I was excited to stop working but I had to stay in and finish. When I finished I got to go out and play soccer. I don't love soccer because the ball never comes to me. I like playing indoors because we have smaller teams and I actually get to kick the ball.

I wanted to have a friend over after school but everyone was either busy or not home so I just watched TV. I watch whatever is on Disney channel. Today I watched Good Luck Charlie and Austin and Allie.

I practiced guitar with Dad. We are learning Hotel California, December and Smells Like Teen Spirit. The power chords are really hard because I'm not very good at muting the strings. I really like the others and December is my favorite because I like to pick it.

For dinner I had chicken noodle soup. It was leftover night. Then I watched more Disney channel, same things as before. I also made lemon bars, but that was after school.

Hilarious! I love reading these! It's fun to hear from the girls. We had our kids do them, too. So fun to hear their perspectives. I love this line: ". I don't like to talk during lunch, I just like to eat." LOL! A girl who knows what she wants. Good for her!
