The big event last week was Brita's baptism. She had a big turnout with lots of church friends and her school teacher, Mrs. Pirtle attend. Rachelle made a great poster out of some photos she took, and Brita and Rachelle performed a vocal duet of "A Child's Prayer". It was a little rough in a few spots, but was impressive. As for the actual baptism, the water was breathtakingly cold and I was glad to only get wet up to the mid-thigh. It's not like we had to chop a hole in the ice, so I guess I shouldn't complain. It was a beautiful little meeting and we're glad of all the support.
It's been fun to have Rachelle's parents in town this week. They always get right to work whenever they're here and this visit is no exception. Chad has painted the siding and trim on the outside of the house again and LuDene is helping Rachelle box up a bunch of stuff and get the house ready to sell. They all work so hard that everyone is usually sound asleep by 10PM.
Megan is such a fast crawler that she refuses to walk. On Sunday after church I was busy taking stuff in the house and didn't notice the door was open. Meg did. She was making a break for it, crawling down the driveway into the street as fast as she could go in her Sunday dress. She had spotted the neighbor's dog and was making a beeline for him. She's fast AND fearless.
The economic collapse is fascinating to me, but politicians' solutions are sickening. I read somewhere that the stimulus bill is like wetting your pants to stay warm. That's the best that can be said for it. Politicians also don't understand the first rule of holes: when you're in one stop digging. To summarize, the country has collectively borrowed way too much money, and their solution is to borrow more. It defies logic. Does ANYBODY think this is a good idea?

Awesome post. I agree about the economy. I think we simply oughta cycle through the rough part to get back up again. This bailout crap is really stupid.
Rachelle, I seriously MUST know how you did those pictures of Brita -- backdrop (what is that?), inside?, outside?, digital camera? PLEASE TELL ME! Seriously, we're so done paying Sears to do what we can do ourselves nowadays with modern technology and we're doing some b-day pics soon. Please, if you can tear yourself away from packing, do tell soon! Thanks! I'm subscribing to these comments if you just want to post a comment. I know us--it'll be better than email!! :P
Congrats to Brita!
Yes, the economics of this country are depressing. What scares me the most is that we won't really FEEL the effects of all the damaging decisions until a ways down the road. I think we're all in for some serious hard times ahead. We will all have to pay for the hole our government put us in.
Stacy - I'm so glad you like the pics. My friend came over and she and I both snapped a TON of shots, which I've found is key in getting a few really awesome photos. I owe much of the credit to my friend - it was her backdrop and lots of her creative ideas. It's just black fabric taped on a wall with more black fabric draped on the floor. We did it in the house next to a window with the sunlight coming in. We both had digital cameras - my friend has a nicer camera than I have, but each of us got some really good results. When our "subject" wasn't being too cooperative, we let her be silly for a while and do whatever she wanted, and some of those poses turned out to be my favorites because they totally showed her personality. Good luck. I can't wait to see how your b-day photos turn out!
Yay! Thank you!! I'll keep you posted! :)
What great pictures of Brita! I love them! I love the idea of capturing her and her personality through a photo shoot...She's growing up!
